When my son asked me if I could make him some applesauce from scratch, I said, “Of course!” And then I thought, “But how?” Turns out it’s super duper easy and sooo much better than the store bought stuff! This made the perfect side to our roast for supper, but would be good as a snack, too. Feel free to make it yours by changing up the spices and if you want to make a big batch, you could easily can this (see recipe notes). However you slice it, this is a must-have recipe to keep in your box. Or digital bookmark. Or however that goes these days. Happy “ceeling”! (See video to decipher Merdie-ease.)((ie. weird words I make up.))((( K. Thanks. Bye.)))

This variation of cornbread is a knock-your-socks-off sweet southern delight! My Granny Austin made this regularly and my daughter Austin (her namesake) loves it and requests it often. Her great-grandmother would be proud. 🥰

This is a great base recipe you could dress up with jalapenos and/or cheese to your liking. The best part is it can also sub as a dessert. What an overachiever this cornbread is! Hope you love it, too. \

*The recipe below is amended from what I showed in the video. I was going off of my memory after scouring my recipe cards and not finding my Granny’s original recipe. An hour after the video posted, I found it in a cookbook! I had a few measurements wrong and I just can’t post this as her recipe if it’s not truly her recipe. So, what you see below is Granny Austin’s recipe (and will be even better than the recipe I shared on video. ☺)

Confession: I’ve never made stuffing before until I threw this together. Confession 2: I was not sure if it would be fit to serve to humans or if it would be the dog’s supper. Confession 3: It was really good and I’d make it again, so I’m sharing with you. If you need a super easy “dressed-up” dressing, this works! And while close may only count in horseshoes and hand grenades, this recipe is close enough to homemade to claim that if you want (I won’t tell if you don’t.) Happy cooking, y’all!

My mom made this every Thanksgiving and it’s become a staple for me to bring to our family get together. The recipe resides in a thirty-year old cookbook from my childhood church, complete with stains and tears and all the things that make old cookbook recipes just taste better. Recipe credit goes to my “second mother” growing up, Sharon Lawrence. Just opening the cookbook every fall to make this recipe brings back memories like no other. If you need a tried and true sweet potato casserole recipe, this one’s for you! Enjoy. xx, m

Because I promise you it’s amazing and I’m not here to steer you wrong, and you need this in your life, so you’re welcome.   See video below for how I make it and get rollin’!

We’re getting ranchy y’all…with grilled sweet potatoes! You’re just going to have to trust me on this one and you’re just going to have to try them. I promise they’ll not only please you, they’ll please your family and any crowd. The perfect appetizer or pair for pretty much any kind of meat I can think of – even venison, because that’s what I did here last night. And even better, if ranch isn’t your thing (I can’t relate…but if it’s not), you can also use steak seasoning (I prefer MusketPowder – find at musketpowder.com, use code TFW to save 10%), taco seasoning or any other season all you love. Give these a try and prepare to be wowed. Ok, that’s enough talk, time to get eating. 🙂 Watch below to see how I made and find the printable recipe below.
