Aunt Nonie's Shrimp Creole

Equipment

  • Onion Chopper

Ingredients

  • 1 1/2 cup chopped onion
  • 1 cup chopped celery
  • 2 green peppers, chopped
  • 2 cloves garlic (or tsp) minced
  • 1/4 cup butter
  • 1 cup water
  • 1 tbsp chili powder
  • 1 tbsp flour
  • 1 tsp sugar
  • Salt & Pepper To Taste
  • 1 large can crushed tomatoes
  • 1 small can tomato sauce
  • 1-2 lb shrimp (fresh or thawed, peeled, deveined, no tails)

Instructions

  • Saute onions, celery, peppers and garlic until tender
  • Mix in water, flour, chili powder, sugar and salt, simmer a few minutes
  • Add crushed tomatoes and tomato sauce, simmer 15 minutes
  • Add shrimp and cook until pink (just a few minutes). Serve over rice.
